A Mind-Body Reset at the PLA.Yoga Wellness Experience

4-minute read

On Sunday, October 5, I joined a special event hosted by PLA.Yoga, led by instructor and owner Alex Cuellar. It took place at a beautiful house in Altamonte Springs that regularly hosts wellness gatherings. From the moment I arrived, it felt like more than just another yoga class. It was a comprehensive mind-body reset that included breathwork, yoga, sauna, and ice baths.

Starting with Breathwork

We kicked things off with a 45-minute breathwork session guided by Tex, from Primival Human Performance. He’s a Wim Hof-certified instructor and veteran. Right away, his calm guidance set the tone for the day. During the session, we moved through cycles of deep, rhythmic breathing followed by breath holds. As a result, oxygen levels rose, energy increased, and my mind felt sharp and clear. By the end, I felt grounded and fully present.

Flowing into Yoga

After the breathwork, Alex led us through a standing yoga practice. It was a thoughtful and energizing sequence that encouraged us to connect with our breath and move with intention. The class welcomed all levels, and Alex’s approachable style made it easy to follow along while still finding depth in each posture.

Ice Baths and Sauna

Next came the part that pushed our limits. We rotated through two to three-minute ice baths, guided and supported by the group. Cold exposure can boost circulation, reduce inflammation, improve mood, and build resilience. Near the tubs was a sauna, which made it possible to alternate between heat and cold. This contrast therapy helps stimulate blood flow, relax muscles, and leave you feeling both refreshed and grounded. The combination of breathwork, movement, and cold plunged me into a deep sense of presence.

Good Vibes and Community

Once the sessions were complete, we enjoyed healthy snacks and connected with others. The conversations flowed easily, and there was a genuine sense of community throughout the day. Everyone came together with a shared intention to better themselves, support one another, and explore new ways to feel good in their bodies. As a result, the event felt both energizing and deeply grounding.
